Safety Panama is ranked among the safest countries in the region and one of the most visitor friendly countries due to the long presence of Americans in the Canal Zone and constant visit of international business people. However, petty crime does occur and we advise you to always take precaution when in public places.

Tips for your trip:
  • Remember that you are the visitor adapting to the customs of the country. Ask for advice if you are unsure
  • This is Latin America, slow down your pace and be prepared for delays and last minute changes due to weather or other unforeseen incidents
  • Your nature experience will be authentic: mud, insects and occasionally elusive animals are part of it
  • Don’t be an easy target for pickpockets: keep a low profile, only carry enough money for your daily needs and a copy of your passport
  • Sunburn has ruined many holidays, take precautions and use high factor sunscreen even on cloudy days
How to be a responsible tourist:
  • Leave only footprints, take only photos
  • Properly dispose of waste and do not take “souvenirs” such as seashells, plants, sand or coral
  • Do not disturb the wildlife and respect all posted signs of warning of privacy
  • Do not smoke in nature reserves
  • Use water and electricity wisely
